How To Use Cloves To Remove The Evil Eye

evil eyes

“Malocchio”, “Mal Oje”, “Ayin-hore”,  “Drishti”, “Mati”, “The Evil Eye”.

Different languages have different terms to express the same thing: the belief that the eyes can be used to curse another person or affect their life negatively. The belief in the evil eye exists in cultures all over the world and can be found as far back in human history as ancient Sumeria.

WHAT IS THE EVIL EYE?

The evil eye is a form of curse that is cast through a malevolent glare.

It is usually the result of envy, of jealously so strong that its energy consumes the person and is projected outwardly through the eyes, affecting the victim. The results vary, especially considering that the evil eye often affects one thing specifically (what the person who gives the evil eye is envious of) instead of having a general effect: from headaches and vomiting to stomach aches and more serious health symptoms, bad luck, fighting with your significant other, damage of property, injuries etc.

It is usually not done deliberately (although in some cultures/traditions, there are ways people use to train themself in how to use the evil eye to cause harm), but if given by a person who has the natural ability to easily give the evil eye and if this person is particularly envious, the effects can rival a deliberate curse placed upon someone.

HOW TO REMOVE THE EVIL EYEremedies to remove buri nazar

There are many different ways to remove the evil eye curse.

The method I’m going to present here is the one I personally use. In many traditions they believe that for those methods to work, one has to either learn them from a person of the opposite sex (a mother can teach her son for example) or the person has to figure it out on their own by observing how someone else is doing it and without asking any questions.

Personally, I don’t believe there is any loss in effectiveness if one learns the method from a person of the same sex (or from an article on the internet, as is the case here).

However, the way I learnt this method was by observing older women in my extended family when they worked on removing the evil eye, so -since they weren’t allowed to explain how they do it exactly- chances are my method is slightly different than what my mom or aunt uses. This accounts for the many variations one can find for every basic method of evil eye removal, as well as for the different beliefs on how these methods can be used (many people will tell you for example that you cannot remove the mati from yourself; someone else has to do it) as well as in the actual result from the method used (the method I’m going to present for example is used by some people just for diagnostic purposes when they’re trying to find who gave them the evil eye, while

Experts Reveal When To Smudge Sage Versus Palo Santo By: JANELL HICKMAN

Experts Reveal When To Smudge Sage Versus Palo Santo

Growing up in a Caribbean household, the smell of sage was always omnipresent. My mother, aunts, and grandmother often reminded me to “clear the space” prior to getting cozy. Along with Florida Water (ICYMI: Solange brought her own bottle to the Met Ball), it’s been my saving grace in new or uncomfortable environments.

It’s no surprise that the practice of smudging has accelerated in popularity, but the ritualistic burning of woods and herbs is by no means new. It has been an ancient cleansing practice for many cultures, particularly those of Native American descent, and has roots in Asia and the Middle East as well.

“Smudging is the use of sacred plant medicine to bring or clear energy into a space using the combined elemental energies of fire (flame), earth (plant), and air (smoke),” explains crystal healer, Azalea Lee. In short, smudge ‘deposits’ the energy of the plant into the space helping to dissipate old, lingering energies. Essentially, the practice can “unstick energies stuck to the aura of objects and people,” according to Lee.

While there are many ways to smudge, people traditionally lean towards either palo santo or sage to keep the good vibes going. But there’s a bit of confusion about what to use (and when) since each plant medicine has its own unique benefits.

“Known as ‘holy wood’, Palo Santo is able to be used once these trees have naturally fallen in the rainforest and lie dead for four to ten years before they are harvested,” explains Sabrina Riccio, a soulistic alchemist, soul activator, and medicine priestess. “This sacred plant medicine offers a grounded and clear energy while also enhancing creativity and/or bringing forth good fortune,” she shares.

“Sage comes from the Latin word ‘salvia’ which translates as ‘to heal.’ Often, burning sage can bring forth wisdom and clarity as it increases your spiritual awareness,” she continues. “[It carries] more of the masculine/yang aspect. White sage specifically has been used by Native Americans for thousands of years for cleansing, purification, warding off evil spirits, and negative energies.”

After you set an intention [Editor’s Note: All three practitioners interviewed emphasized this] it’s up to you on how frequently you’d like to do it. “Some people do this [smudge] every day, as a ritual or way to start their day. I say do it when you feel your space needs it,” adds meditation and mineral guide, Lauren Spencer King. “There is no wrong time. When I smudge before I have

How To Make Black Salt & What It’s Used For BY: Avery Hart

Avery Hart // The Traveling Witch

This spell casting ingredient is a staple for all kinds of witches. Black salt is a very handy ingredient to have in your cupboard, it can be used for protection, banishing and breaking hexes and can also be used for laying simple hexes and curses of your own. It’s useful for driving away anything and everything from depression, nasty spirits, other magic workers and even unwanted guests.

Black salt is also surprisingly simple to make! Using a mortar and pestle is ideal but if you haven’t got one you can just as easily mix your ingredients in a food processor or spice grinder though I would recommend thoroughly cleaning it afterward.

You Will Need:

  • Sea Salt
  • Charcoal (from a fire is best but in a pinch you can just as easily use activated charcoal powder)
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • Incense ashes (cone incense works well)
  • A Mortar and Pestle

Grind the pepper and charcoal into a fine powder before adding your salt. Add salt slowly, making sure not to add so much that the color becomes more grey than black. When your salt is evenly mixed, transfer it into a fireproof container and use the salt as a bed to burn a cone of incense. When the incense has burned out, mix the ashes into the salt.

Store the salt in an airtight container. If you live in a humid environment the charcoal and salt will suck up all of the moisture from the air leaving you with damp salt or, if left long enough, a black salt brick.

The black salt is now ready to use, the most basic way to use it is to make a line of black salt just outside of the front and back thresholds of your house. Some people may also line their windows.

Other Ways to Use Black Salt:

  • Hiding a small bag of black salt in your

ANIMAL TOTEMS AND THEIR MEANINGS. BY CHEROKEE BILLIE

An Animal Totem is an important symbolic object used by a person to get in touch with specific qualities found within an animal which the person needs, connects with, or feels a deep affinity toward.

You can have several animal guides through out your life. Sometimes an animal guide will come into your life for a short period of time, and then be replaced by another depending on the journey or direction you are headed toward. Your guide will instruct and protect you as you learn how to navigate through your spiritual and physical life.

What Spirit Animals are working with you? Find out Here

When you find an animal that speaks strongly to you or feel you must draw more deeply into your life, you might fill your environment with images of the animal to let the animal know its welcome in your space. Animal guides can help you get back to your Earthly roots, and reconnect with nature by reminding you that we are all interconnected.

In the American Indian culture animals have always been respected and the belief was that you could take on the aspects of your animal totem that is why Indians would use parts of the animal to wear on their body as they felt it gave them gifts from their animal.

Each of us is given spirit gifts (totems) at birth to help us discover our path on the “Good Red Road.” You can define your path and serve yourself and others while enjoying the trip, for the journey is more important than the destination. All members of creation – animals, plants and minerals – have unique characteristics, energies and lessons giving you direction. Your path consists of the gifts of those with whom you share the Earth combined with your choices and spiritual energies. We each have a special gift to share with others, sometimes multiple gifts.

Animals scarcely come to us because they have a lesson we need to learn a power they are willing to share with a friend.  They seek to give us a gift of understanding, universal love, energy, and knowledge.  In general, animals remind us that we are part of the earth; that each creature has a place; that each creature has a skill of it is own; that we have instincts given to us from Mother earth, wisdom born to us that we must awaken.  The Animal Totem that comes to you offers you power and wisdom if you will learn to communicate with it, with respect, trust, and understanding. Developing a relationship with your animal totem takes time, practice, and patience. Having an animal totem means that you have lessons to learn and a powerful spiritual friend.

From the time I can first remember I was attracted to Owl’s. Now I realize that Owl has been my personal medicine throughout my life. Everything that Owl symbolizes has been natural to me all of my life. Owl medicine is a feminine trait and is symbolically associated with clairvoyance, astral projection, and magic.

I offer personal and small group classes and mediations on animal totems, animal totem consultations over the internet or by phone, and animal totem and shapeshifting guided meditations. Contact me privately to find out about my personalized classes.

Find Your Personal Animal Totem

Find a place where you can be alone to meditate. Sit quietly and ask your animal to make its nature known to you. Feel free to use tools such as incense, smudge, and candles to help you. Since we are drawn to that which resonates with us, what animal, bird, or insect are you drawn to?

Don’t give up; sometimes your animal totem is nearby watching to see if you’re serious about connecting with it. Keep doing the above exercises until your animal totem makes itself known to you.

What is Sigil Magick?

ekg-2753762_1280

You may think that this name is just a coincidence, but it’s actually not, and it does represent a form of magic. Sigil comes from the Latin word “sigillum”, which means seal. In Hebrew, for instance, “segula” comes with the meaning of action or talisman. Now you may wonder whose seal it is. Or how can one use such a seal? It is actually a symbolic representation of the intentions of a magician or of one that practices magick. It is not a recent discovery since sigil magic was used centuries ago as well. Many books found, which belong to medieval times, contain these magical symbols; so it looks like people did seek the help of these seals throughout history.

In the occult manifestations of the medieval times, the sigil was represented by symbols of angels or demons, which could be summoned by the magician. Also, think about the Germanic runes, or symbols encrypted on stones, dating back to the Neolithic era. So this may look like an ancient form of magic, meant to put to use the Universe’s forces. A controversial list, containing such sigils, is “The Lesser Key of Solomon”, which is said to contain 72 sigils, belonging to princes of Hell. Considered to be the symbol that represented the real name of the entities, it is said that the magician who had the list could have controlled and summoned the beings.

Today, this method is used in the so-called Chaos Magick, and it is said to work this way: A magician thinks about an intention and writes down that statement of intent. Next, he cuts all the vowels out. After cutting the vowels out, he must check to see if the remaining letter have duplicates. If there are duplicates, he must cut down all the duplicates so that every letter has a single representative. Then, with the remaining letter, he can craft his own sigil. It can be of any shape or design, chosen by the magician. To actually work, the sigil must be charged with his energy. Either he turns to a meditative state, uses his sexual energy or blood, through an energetic outburst or just by declaring his intention. The sigil is then used as a discreet symbol written on a piece of paper, in a crystal, on a piece of wood, whatever works for the person using this type of magic.
