To buy or not to buy…that is the question. By The Silver Sage Witch of NewFound-Life.com

Is it necessary to have an Altar?  Some Witches would say yes, however, there are also a lot of Witches that don’t think it’s necessary.  I don’t think it’s necessary, but I do believe that it helps the Witch to be more powerful in her workings.

Most Witches who are new to the Craft feel that they need to purchase as many Altar items as possible, and ALL AT ONCE!  Listen, I’m the first person to agree that having all of the Ritual items is pure joy, however, I’m the type of Witch that likes to make my tools, or even go rummaging through second-hand stores to find the Witchy treasures that will find a home on my Altar.

I’ve made a lot of my Witchcraft Tools, such as my marble Pentagram, Wand, Runes, and most of the candles that I use.  For me, it’s a feeling of accomplishment and creativity, and it is also my thinking that when I make an item, I am loading it with my intense Magicks, thus making it even more powerful when I use them for Spells, Rituals, and healings.

It is also my way (whenever possible), to grow my own herbs, harvest and dry them, because I’m imbuing them with my Magical Power which, there, in turn, makes them even more potent than they already were.

Engulfing your Ritual Items with YOUR Intention, no matter if storebought or self-made, is the key to Magickal success.

I wish you the Brightest of Magickal Blessings!

I thought I ought to make a post about my wand making, since I’ve been asked a few times. So here goes…
All harvesting is done during the waxing and full moon phases, with permission being asked of the wight (spirit of the tree). All wands are new growth. Wounds are sealed to prevent infection and a small offering left by the roots.
The bark is usually stripped there beneath the tree, being left at one end to create a grip.
The blank is then seasoned by leaving it in a warm dry spot, protected from the elements, but where the sun and moonlight can fall on it, for a full cycle of the moon.
The wand is then ready to be engraved with runes and sealed with pure linseed oil.
